Often times as humans we make things more difficult than they really are.

Understanding the core basics in the world of youth basketball is extremely important for parents. Over the years, I have seen parents stress themselves to the point of illness; over high school and grassroots basketball.

I recently had a parent ask me the question concerning evaluating a player. I tried to make it as simplistic as possible.

I am not an evaluator or a scout, but I have an understanding. I asked questions and I have received excellent advice from some of the best evaluators in the country.

I don’t think most really understand what an evaluation really is; we put too much stock in all of these sports outlets on giving an honest evaluation of our children. Here are the three components for evaluation: 👇🏾👇🏾👇🏾

The three main types of evaluation methods are goal-based, process-based, and outcomes-based.

Any experience evaluator will look for things outside of a player’s game. Character, commitment, and work ethic are just a few to name.
