Name: Sterling Knox
Year and School: 2023, Red Rock Academy Las Vegas, Nevada
Dominant hand: Right
From my standpoint Sterling can play the wing position or guard position. He has good positional size as a two-way guard.
According to some Intel Sterling is listed at 6’6” and about 195-200 pounds. His body frame looks all-natural. In a recent local combine, his vertical was measured at 32 inches.
Sterling’s offensive Skillset consists of multiple abilities. He demonstrates good dribble penetration and body control as a finisher.
At the high school level, he can operate from either block when the smaller defenders are on him.
One area of concern is Sterling’s jump-shot release it starts at his waist and is slow. This can be fixed, but if not it could be a problem in the future. Sterling shot release at the next level will allow defenders to close out quickly and affects his shots.
Let me make it very clear when Sterling is left open he can knock down shots. He has a good feel for the game!
In terms of Sterling’s ball skills, he looks very comfortable and fluent in transition. For a guard, he consistently gives great effort on both ends of the floor.
Defensively Sterling moves his feet decent and has the ability to defend. Sterling has the tools to be a very good defender, he will get on the glass and rebound for a guard.
Final remarks:
I have seen Sterling Knox on more than one occasion. He is one of the most improved players in Las Vegas. I really like the young man; he gets the job done. He is a team player a good two-way player that can be an asset to a program in the future.
Around The Country, segments are dedicated to bringing awareness to players who are slept on in their local regions.
