The demand for winning at the collegiate level is one of the most stressful jobs that any human being could have in America.
The sports industry is not just a signature aspect of the American way of life but has also become a very important part of the American economy
To be a head coach requires a level of patience, and the ability to accept harsh criticism. Head coach Patrick Ewing of the Georgetown Hoyas is experiencing all of this.
There is no question in anyone’s mind Ewing is one of the greatest players of all time.
In the last five years, Georgetown has declined to unprecedented lows as a basketball program. Coach Ewing has not had a 20-win season as the coach of the Hoyas. His best season was in 2018-19 when the program finishes 19-14.
Georgetown (5-12, 0-6 Big East) has not won a conference game since beating Xavier 72-66 on March 2, 2021. The Hoyas were 0-19 last season in the Big East.

Ticket sales have declined to an all-time low average. Attendance for a Georgetown game that seats over 20,000 fans on average, only attracts somewhere around 5,600 fans.
President Jack DeGioia and Athletic Director Lee Reed, are definitely across the road. But, as the late great John Thompson said if you don’t win they will fire you.
It’s also important to remember that coaching a college basketball team is a demanding job that comes with its own set of challenges and pressures.
It’s worth noting that the head coach is just one part of a larger program, and there are many factors that can contribute to a team’s success or lack thereof. It’s possible that Georgetown has faced challenges in recruiting top talent, or that there have been injuries or other issues that have affected the team’s performance.
