Head Coach Kenny Payne
“Earlier today, Trentyn and his family informed me of his decision to pursue a professional career overseas. We’re certainly disappointed in his decision and the timing. We fully believe in the University of Louisville’s ability to help student-athletes reach their goals, including to play at the highest levels of professional basketball – and we’re confident that Trentyn could have achieved his dreams by making Louisville his home. However, we wish Trentyn and his family well in all of their future endeavors.
Our Take On The Turn Of Events:
Surprise Shakes Louisville Cardinal Fans as Trentyn Flowers Opts for Professional Path”
“In an unexpected turn of events, Louisville Cardinal fans were jolted awake on Monday with the news that incoming freshman Trentyn Flowers would not only forego his senior year of high school, but also bypass college basketball altogether. The shockwave was palpable as Flowers revealed his decision to renege on his commitment to UofL, opting instead to sign a professional contract in Australia.

While the announcement may have caught many off guard, it underscores the dynamic landscape of modern basketball. Despite this twist, Coach Kenny Payne and the Louisville Cardinals remain undaunted. The team boasts a wealth of talent poised for success in the upcoming season. Notably, incoming freshman Curtis Williams, a 6’6 wing, has exhibited exceptional shooting prowess, offering a glimpse of the team’s potential.
Coming off a challenging year marked by a 4-28 record, Louisville faces a pivotal season ahead, with the point guard role emerging as a critical factor. The addition of former Illinois transfer Skyy Clark has brought renewed hope. Clark’s role is paramount, as he assumes the point guard position on a team that ranked a lowly 352nd in the nation in turnover percentage last season, relinquishing possession on a staggering 22.3% of its plays.
Undoubtedly, Trentyn Flowers’ departure leaves a void. Standing tall at 6 feet 8 inches, his talent and potential were undeniable. While his absence will be felt, the program is resolute in moving forward. Louisville remains poised to navigate the challenges and emerge stronger than before.”
