Ever wondered about the journey of Las Vegas basketball talent after high school? Let’s dive into the story of Brevin Walter, a standout from Faith Lutheran High School in Las Vegas, Nevada. At 6-foot-4, he made his mark as a sharpshooter, in high school racked up accolades like All-Conference and All-State honors, and was the MVP in the Northwest Conference.
Transitioning to college, Walter began his collegiate basketball journey at Division II South Dakota School of Mines. Over four seasons, he showcased his skills in 74 games, making 68 starts and tallying an impressive 1,264 points. Notably, he earned All-RMAC Selection twice and secured second-team honors in the 2022-23 season.

One of his outstanding achievements? Setting a school record with a whopping 45 points against MSU Denver on December 10, 2022. Despite redshirting in his first year during the 2019-20 season, Walter left a mark on South Dakota Mines’ basketball program.
In his senior season, Walter transferred to Division II Colorado State University-Pueblo, where he continued to shine on the court. Averaging 17.3 points per game, he showcased his scoring ability, along with solid contributions in rebounds and assists.
I had the privilege of witnessing his last collegiate game, where he delivered a solid performance in the RMAC Tournament, scoring 24 points against 5th-ranked Fort Lewis University.
Looking ahead, Walter’s future is promising. With aspirations to pursue a professional basketball career alongside his passion for engineering, he exemplifies the talent that is emerging from our city’s vibrant basketball scene.
