“The Final Word: Recapping The Last 20 Years of Vegas Basketball Greatness”

Over the past few months, I took on a task that many might not even consider. What began as a modest idea to recognize the Top 25 evolved into something much greater. A tribute to two decades of talent, community, and basketball culture in our city.

This wasn’t about creating controversy. It was about celebrating the players—the ones who laid the foundation and the ones who are still writing their stories. It was about giving Las Vegas the recognition it deserves in the national basketball conversation.

Yes, we understand there may have been omissions. We acknowledge that some deserving names may have been left out—not out of malice, but human error. That comes with any large-scale historical project. But our intent was always rooted in respect, research, and reflection. As students of the game, we believe history rewards those who study it—and this list is a result of countless hours spent doing just that.

SOME OF VEGAS BEST

What we accomplished at Unit 1 Hoop Source, an independent grassroots basketball platform, is unprecedented for Las Vegas. No mainstream outlet has attempted to chronicle our city’s hoops history in this way. We’ve sparked conversations, rekindled old memories, and inspired players and coaches to look back with pride.

Seven McDonald’s All-Americans have come out of Las Vegas in the last 20 years—that’s one every three years. Even more impressive? Every single one of them played at a local high school right here in the city. They didn’t leave for out-of-state prep schools. They stayed home. That speaks volumes about the leadership, coaching, and mentorship that exists in this community.

This project is a reminder that our city matters. Our players matter. And our stories deserve to be told—not just for today’s fans, but for the next generation that will build upon this legacy.

We’re proud of the work we’ve done. And we’re even more excited about what’s ahead. This is just the beginning. We’re laying the groundwork for others to build on. The goal isn’t just to be the first to do it—it’s to inspire the next one to do it even better.

We’re Unit 1 Hoop Source. Welcome to the conversation.
